Tax Reform Tour Begins July 8th in Minneapolis

Senator Max Baucus and Representative Dave Camp are visiting Minneapolis, MN, to discuss their efforts to reform America's tax code. "The visits are the first in a series of trips across the nation so the Chairmen of the two tax-writing committees can hear directly from Americans about how to spark a more prosperous economy and make today's broken tax code fairer for families and job creators." Locations for other tax reform meetings have not been disclosed as yet.

Baucus and Camp also have a web site at taxreform.gov to provide access to hearings and documents on tax reform efforts at the nation's capital. Previously, the two legislators have advocated a "blank-slate" approach to tax reform, which would involve stripping out many existing tax breaks and adding back only those tax incentives that "(1) help grow the economy, (2) make the tax code fairer, or (3) effectively promote other important policy objectives" (Next Steps on Tax Reform [pdf]).
